I'm not a cook. I've melted spatulas in the past. I am THAT bad. I can mess up spaghetti pretty easily.
That doesn't stop me from trying. I am, however, addicted to following directions on boxes. Not too good for you. Boxed food by definition is probably rife with preservatives, added flavorings, sweeteners, all kinds of crap that's bad for you.
Luckily, the internet makes adventuring a little easier. Yay for recipe sites!
Lately, in an effort to hone my skills in the kitchen, I've been looking up recipes on sites like allrecipes.com. I like their rating system, and checking the comments always yields minor improvements to recipes, as well as ideas on how to use items that you're cooking.
This recipe right here will be invaluable to anyone trying to figure out this whole cooking thing: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/White-Sauce/Detail.aspx
Milk, butter, and flour. Chances are you have those. Aside from those three key ingredients, you can add cheese, spices, flavorings, whatever. With that really easy base, just mess around with it & figure out something yummy! :) I plan on using it for dinner tonight. I have some chinese egg noodles & ground beef, I might make a swedish meatballs or beef pasta thing tonight. Should be interesting. I'll let you know how my kitchen adventure goes. :)
