I just made swedish meatballs (well, they're really bland, but still) out of stuff we happened to have in the kitchen. I had to do ALOT of substitution & improvisation, but I managed to throw something together that was not bad at all. Again, kinda bland, but not bad for my first time making a big, in-depth, from-scratch dinner. Nothing was reheated, packaged, or microwaved, and that is a HUGE step forward for me.
There were issues, however. They're still bland, like I said. And having only Skim milk meant I had to add a pinch of sugar & an extra tsp of flour to the sauce. It was surprisingly simple despite my need to basically combine three recipes. :P The other issue was my lack of any pepper or nutmeg in the house.
I also had no bread crumbs so I crushed a bunch of cheerios up instead. Turned out not bad, but the meatballs are a bit squishy (which I happen to like anyway).
So anyway. There's my adventure in cooking. XD
